New Economics Interim Department Chair
Filippo Rebessi, Ph.D, named Interim Economics Department Chair

Filippo Rebessi, Ph.D, accepted the position of Interim Economics Department Chair for the College of Business and Economics at Cal State East Bay this Fall.
"Leading our Department in such interesting economic times is very exciting," said Filippo. "Inflation and uncertainty about future economic scenarios both in the domestic and international context are driving our students to learn more about Economics. Our talented faculty is already hard at work to empower them with the tools and insights from Economics, which will open great opportunities for their future careers and studies."
Filippo is an Assistant Professor for the Department of Economics and has been with Cal State East Bay since 2016. Prior to his arrival in California, he was an Instructor and Writing Assistant at the University of Minnesota.
He received his M.A. and Ph.D in Economics from University of Minnesota after a B.A. and M.A. in Economics and Finance at Universita’ di Parma, Italy.
His research interests include Macroeconomics and Public Finance. Filippo's most recent research publications and articles span a wide range of topics such as agricultural policy, firm dynamics, and sports economics.
Filippo will be responsible for the undergraduate and graduate programs in the Economics Department.
