Cal State East Bay will host a gathering of educators at the Hayward campus for the second annual California Teachers Summit on July 29.
According to organizers, the “Better Together: California Teachers Summit” is designed to help teachers build a powerful network of peers and learn about resources for implementing Common Core, California’s new rigorous state standards for math, English, language arts and literacy. The free statewide day of learning by teachers, for teachers is being held at 38 locations and is expected to draw thousands of pre-K-12 teachers, teacher candidates and school administrators.
Educators will attend TED-style talks by local teachers, keynote addresses by education leaders, and peer-to-peer discussions about everything from technology in the classroom to improving literacy in early education. Organizers say this format encourages dialogue and provides time for networking and sharing ideas in small group discussions.
Partners for this year’s event include The California State University, the New Teacher Center and the Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities.
Tickets to the event are required, but it is free to all teachers in California. Attendees are encouraged to choose the location most convenient for them. A full list is available on .
