Art Gallery Hosts Faculty Exhibitions

  • January 31, 2009

The Cal State East Bay Annual Art Faculty Exhibition, featuring the creative art of university faculty, is on display in the University Art Gallery on display 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, through Feb. 26.

The gallery is located in the Art and Education Building on CSUEB's Hayward Campus, 25800 Carlos Bee Blvd. Admission is free and the public is invited.

Pieces included in the exhibition were produced by faculty members Jennifer Brazelton, Jacqueline Ford, Michael Henninger, Bryan Higgins, Phillip Hoffstetter, Scott Hopkins, Kirk LeClaire, Lisa Levine, Mark Levy, Sylvia Min, Grace Munakata, Paula Pereira, John Poole, Gwyan Rhabyt, Dickson Schneider, Suzy Wear and Sharon Wickham.

"This is an opportunity for art students to see what their teachers are doing as artists, and to talk with them about art in a casual manner in an environment quite different from the classroom," said Lanier Graham, whose own art work is also on display. "It also is a chance for the university and the wider community to see some of the best work being made in the East Bay, including painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography and electronic art."

Concurrently, the Satellite Gallery, in the back of the University Art Gallery, will show "Pre-Columbian Sculpture" through Feb. 26. The exhibit includes figures and faces from the ancient Mesoamerican traditions of the Olmec, the Maya, and the Aztec.
