Prominent Jewish scholar looks at 'Judaism as a Secular Tradition' April 16

David Biale, one of the country’s leading Jewish Studies scholars, will give his thoughts on, “Judaism as a Secular Tradition,” at noon Thursday, April 16 in the Biella Room of the California State University, East Bay Library, 25800 Carlos Bee Blvd., Hayward. Admission is free and light refreshments will be served.
Director of Jewish Studies and Emanuel Ringelblum Professor for Jewish History at the University of California, Davis, Biale previously served as Koret Professor of Jewish History and Director of the Center for Jewish Studies at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley.
He is the author of “Eros and the Jews,” “Power and Powerlessness in Jewish History,” and most recently, “Blood and Belief: The Circulation of a Symbol Between Jews and Christians.”
The program is funded by the Amy and Morton Friedkin Foundation of the East Bay Jewish Community Foundation.
