Economist Michael Boskin to speak Friday

Michael J. Boskin, chairman of the President's Council of Economic Advisors between 1989 and 1993, will be speaking on “The Perfect Economic Storm: How it Happened and How to Return to Normalcy” as part of Cal State East Bay’s College of Business and Economics Speaker Series from 4 to 5 p.m. this Friday (April 17) in room 124 of the Valley Business and Technology Center on the Hayward Campus of CSUEB, 25800 Carlos Bee Blvd.
Admission is free and the public is invited. The CBE Speaker Series is co-sponsored by the Smith Center for Private Enterprise Study.
Boskin is the T.M. Friedman professor of economics at Stanford University, where he also is a senior fellow with the Hoover Institution. He also is research associate for the National Bureau of Economic Research.
While heading up President George H.W. Bush’s Council of Economic Advisors, he was credited with originating NAFTA and designing the first rules to control government spending.
