Undergraduate seniors will be recognized for earning bachelor’s degrees and acceptance into doctoral and master’s degree programs at the McNair Scholars Graduation Reception June 1 in the University Union, multipurpose room A.

The nationally recognized program prepares first-generation college students for graduate school. Some of the main components of the program include conducting original research under the guidance of a faculty mentor and receiving training in writing, communication and graduate school preparation.

Out of 12 McNair Scholar seniors, seven have been admitted into graduate programs, including two doctoral programs. Two seniors who are taking additional classes will apply for graduate school in the fall, and one scholar applied to Teach for America.

Speakers at the reception will include CSUEB President Mo Qayoumi, Academic Affairs Vice President and Provost Michael Mahoney and Student Affairs Vice President Sonjia Redmond.
