A new online bachelor’s degree completion program in business administration is being launched by California State University, East Bay during the fall 2009 quarter, which begins Sept. 23.

The degree completion program offers a bachelor of science in Business Administration (BSBA) degree with an option in Finance. It is expected that at least one other option will be added in the first year. The BSBA program is accredited by AACSB International, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

“I am really excited about Cal State East Bay’s new online degree completion program in business,” said Terri Swartz, dean of CSUEB’s College of Business and Economics. “We are now offering our undergraduate business degree as a new online degree completion program. Same degree, same courses and same faculty – but not in the same format.  There is no driving time and no down time.  Online education is not right for everyone, but it is right for some, like the busy adult who is self-motivated and wants to move ahead.”

“The two-year online Bachelor of Science in Business Administration program offers working adults a flexible and convenient way to complete the required academic work and earn a degree in business administration without having to compromise their family and work schedules,” said Brian Cook, executive director of Cal State East Bay’s Division of Continuing and International Education. “California community college students currently enrolled in online courses, and who want to continue their education in an online format, can also benefit from this online BSBA’s self-paced environment.”

The university’s online courses offer a multimedia learning environment where students can interact in chat room discussions, communicate with instructors through e-mail, and view video clips or streaming audio recordings of lectures and presentations. The online program allows students to complete their degree without stepping foot on campus.

This program has rolling admissions, so there are no application submission deadlines. To apply to the program, students must submit an application online at http://www.csumentor.edu/admissionapp/undergrad_apply.asp and pay the $55 nonrefundable application fee. Paper applications are also accepted and instructions for printing a paper copy are also available at that site.

Applicants for the program must have fulfilled all lower-division business course requirements, lower-division general education requirements, and meet all minimum Cal State East Bay junior-level transfer requirements.

For acceptance into the online degree program, applicants must also have completed a minimum of 60 transferable semester units (90 quarter units), have a grade point average of 2.0 or better in all transferable units, and be in good standing at the last college or university attended.
