Pioneer Cross Country Takes Third, Ninth at Westmont Invite

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - A solid team performance enabled the Pioneer women's cross country team to finish third in the Westmont Invitational on September 19. MEGAN MCDANIEL led all Pioneers runners with an eighth place finish. McDaniel covered the 5K course in 20:34. KRISTIN PARKER ran a strong race to finish 10th with a time of 20:47. NANCY VELAZQUEZ and GABRIELLA CRUZ finished 13th (21:00) and 14th (21:09) repectively. KELLY GUERRERO was clocked in 21:35 to finish in 19th place. CLARIVEL VEGA rounded out a solid Pioneer showing by finishing 22nd with a time of 21:50.

The Pioneer men's team finished 9th with a team score of 232 points. Cal State East Bay was led by FRANCISCO PULIDO who finished in 38th place. Pulido covered the 8k course in 29:04. MICHAEL LUCERO placed 45th with a time of 29:34.
