Pioneers Fall to CCAA Leader Cal State San Bernardino, 79-42

HAYWARD, Calif. -  The Pioneer men's basketball team fell to CCAA leader Cal State San Bernardino, 79-42 on January 28. Cal State East Bay trailed 39-14 while only shooting 23.8 percent from the floor in the first half. Cal State San Bernardino outscored Cal State East Bay 40-28 in the second half to keep its hold on first place in the CCAA.

For the game, Cal State San Bernardino shot 46.9 percent from the field and converted 9 of 28 three-pointers. Cal State East Bay, which shot 30.6 percent from the field, was 0-for-18 from the three point area.

The Coyotes had two players score in double figures led by guard Corey Caston with 13 points. Caston added seven assists and three steals.  Forward Bryan LeDuc followed with 12 points and pulled down six rebounds. Steven Gaston scored nine second half points.

Mark Samuels came off the bench to lead the Pioneers in scoring with 13 points.  Samuels had four steals. Jacob Noisat led Cal State East Bay on the boards with six rebounds.

Cal State San Bernardino is now 10-2 in the CCAA and 12-4 overall while Cal State East Bay stands at 2-10 in conference and 5-12 for the season.
