Pioneers Fall to Cal State Stanislaus in Game One

TURLOCK, Calif. - Cal State Stanislaus scored four runs in the first inning to defeat Cal State East Bay 4-2 in a CCAA game played in Turlock on Feb. 27.

Corey Conflenti hit a solo home run while Alex Zanini Jr. drove in two runs with a single to highlight the Warriors first inning surge.

The Pioneers rallied with two runs in the seventh inning. After one was out, Aaron Brown walked and advanced to third on a double by Jake Walter. Richie Gonzalez infield grounder scored Brown and advanced Walter to third. Walter scored on a wild pitch.

Pioneer starting pitcher Victor Guerrero allowed four runs on seven hits and recorded seven strikeouts in 7.2 of work. Devin Grigg had a pair of hits for the Pioneers.

The series will resume on Sunday with a doubleheader at Turlock beginning at noon. The four-game series will conclude on Monday, March 1 with a single game in Hayward at 1 p.m.
