PIONEERS FINISH STRONG: The five seniors on the Cal State East Bay men's basketball team went out on a high note in a 94-82 overtime win over visiting Sonoma State Friday night. Seniors Jawaan Rubin, Jun Uchida, Scott Knox, Saeed Gatson and Frankie McWhirt played the final 10 minutes of regulation and throughout overtime.
"What a great way for the seniors to go out," Pioneers coach Will Biggs said. "They rose to the occasion and played their best game of the season." The win snapped an 11-game losing streak for the Pioneers (6-21, 3-19 California Collegiate Athletic Association).
