Cal State East Bay Heads South for Four-Game Series

HAYWARD, Calif. - The Pioneer baseball team, 2-10 CCAA, and 5-13-1 overall, will play at Cal State Dominguez Hills in a four-game series March 12-14. The series will begin on March 12 with a single game at 2 p.m.

On Saturday, the two teams will play a doubleheader at 11 a.m. The Pioneers and Toros will finish the series on Sunday at 11 a.m. All four games will be broadcast live on the Toro Sports Network.

Cal State Dominguez Hills is 8-4 in CCAA play and 12-7 overall. Abel Medina and Kyle Pond are both batting a team-best .448 for the season. Pitcher Bret Montgomery is 2-1 with an ERA of 1.55 and staff-high 28 strikeouts.

The Pioneers have a .289 team batting average and a .966 fielding percentage. Stephen Gatehouse is the Pioneers top hitter and ranks 16th among all CCAA hitters with a .384 batting average. Nick McManus, batting .347 for the season, is 30th among CCAA hitters. Levi Josewski is hitting .319 with a team best eight doubles, four home-runs, and 20 RBI. Devin Grigg leads the Pioneers with 16 runs scored.

On the mound, Grigg is 1-0 with a 1.69 ERA and two saves. Paul Jinkens is sixth among CCAA hurlers with a 2.74 ERA. Victor Guerrero has a staff-best 24 strikeouts.
