Pioneers Fall to Cal State San Bernardino in Series Finale

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The Pioneer baseball team lost the series finale to Cal State San Bernardino 13-8 on April 25.
The Coyotes, who won three out of four games in the series, scored seven runs in the bottom of the first highlighted by Ryan Hulbert's two-run double. James McShane hit a three-run homer in the second as the Pioneers cut the Coyotes lead to 7-3.
McShane hit his second home run of the game in the fourth while Levi Josewski belted a two-run homer in a three-run fifth inning as the Pioneers tied the game 7-7.
Charlie Sharrer hit the Pioneers fourth home run of the game, a solo shot in the sixth, to give East Bay an 8-7 lead. Cal State San Bernardino scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to regain the lead 9-8.
Cody Madison hit a two-run home run as the Coyotes added four insurance runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Alex Anicich was 3-for-5 at the plate for the Pioneers. McShane drove in four runs while reliever John Volk allowed two runs and had four strikeouts in 5.1 innings.
The Pioneers are 12-24 in the CCAA and 19-29 overall. East Bay will play at Sonoma State in a non-conference game on April 27.
