Cal State East Bay Falls in Doubleheader Action with Central Washington

ELLENSBURG, Wash. - The Pioneer baseball team fell to 15-24-1 after losing both ends of a doubleheader to Central Washington 5-4 and 7-1 on April 10.
East Bay had three leads in the first game including a 4-3 advantage in the top of the eighth. Central Washington scored twice in the bottom of the eighth to win 5-4.
James McShane and Richie Gonzalez each had two hits while Stephen Gatehouse drove in a run with a sacrifice bunt in the fifth inning.
Pioneer hurler Paul Jinkens went the distance as he allowed two earned runs with six strikeouts.
In the second game, Central Washington scored four runs in the second inning and added two more insurance runs in the fourth to complete the doubleheader sweep.
Richie Gonzalez drove in Marvin Cerda with a single in the seventh to account for the Pioneers lone run.
Cerda was 3-for-3 at the plate while Nick McManus had a pair of hits.
The four-game series will conclude on Sunday with a single game at Central Washington. The first pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
