Pioneers Close Season with Fifth-Place Showing at Sonoma State Spring Invite

SANTA ROSA, Calif. - The Cal State East Bay women's golf team capped the 2010 season on Tuesday, finishing fifth at the Sonoma State Spring Invitational. The Pioneers were led by Catrina Williams' 185 in two rounds at Fountaingrove Golf and Country Club in Santa Rosa.
Fighting wet conditions that saw hail and rain fall on the course, Williams posted a second-round 89, taking seven strokes off her Monday score, and finishing 25th overall to pace the Pioneers. Katie Devine was just four strokes off Williams, finishing 26th and matching Williams with a team-low round of 89 on Monday.
Alicia Haness shot a combined score of 193 to finish 27th, taking three strokes off her first-round score on Tuesday. Andrea Reilly rounded out the Pioneers' four-player group with a 201 to take 28th overall.
The host Seawolves captured the team title, posting a combined score of 637 to top second-place Western Texas by 15 strokes. Hawai'i-Hilo's Dayna Bersamin shot a six-over 150 to take home the individual honors, while Sonoma's Brittany Carrera, who tied for second with Cal State Monterey Bay's Courtney Soekland with a combined score of 153, carded the event's best round with a two-under 70 on Monday.
