Parking structure planned for Hayward Campus

In preparation for Cal State East Bay’s projected growth in student enrollment during the next 20 years, the university will begin construction in September of a five-level parking structure at the intersection of Harder and West Loop roads on the south side of the Hayward Campus.
The structure, which is expected to take one year to 15 months to build, will have a capacity of 1,100 parking spaces. The project, estimated to cost $24.5 million, will be paid for through student, faculty and staff parking fees.
In addition to parking spaces, the structure will feature a bridge across West Loop Road for pedestrians walking to and from the central campus, as well as space for a coffee house.
It is expected that the new facility will be used extensively by students living in the nearby Pioneer Heights Housing Complex as well as campus community members accessing the new and old University Union buildings, the Recreation and Wellness Center set to open in the fall and Meiklejohn Hall.
Cars will enter and exit the new parking structure via West Loop Road. A parking management office will be located on the north east section of the facility, fronting West Loop Road.
