Cal State East Bay theater arts graduate James Monroe Iglehart was the animated dancer wearing suspenders, stage left, on June 15 when the musical "Memphis" won best musical honors during the Tony Awards broadcast.
This is Iglehart's second appearance on Broadway in three years. In April 2007, he made his debut as Mitch Mahoney in "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee!"
Since graduating from Cal State East Bay in 1998, Iglehart has performed extensively throughout the Bay Area, including the roles of the Demon Barber in "Sweeney Todd," and jazz musician Coalhouse Walker in "Ragtime."
As a Cal State East Bay student, Iglehart appeared in productions such as "Ain't Misbehavin'," "Jesus Christ Superstar," "Into the Woods" and A "Christmas Carol."
