Janelle Minter, of Castro Valley, recently was accepted to medical school for the class of 2014 at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland.
Minter attended public schools in Castro Valley: Palomares Elementary, Canyon Middle School and Castro Valley High School.
In 2009 she graduated magna cum laude from California State University East Bay with a bachelor's degree in biology with a biomedical laboratory science option, chemistry minor.
She is the daughter of Jim and Doreen Minter of Castro Valley.
Minter will start the Oregon Health and Science University School of Medicine in August.
