Women speak their minds on romance in summertime "New Works Showcase'

“New Works Showcase,” featuring women empowering women by taking on their relationships with the opposite sex, will be performed at 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, July 26-27, in the Studio Theatre on the Cal State East Bay Campus, 25800 Carlos Bee Blvd., Hayward.
Ann Fajilan, assistant professor of theatre and dance, is working with students Sarah Araya, Miriam Araya, Jordan Battle, Justin Eaglin, Esther Owusu, Megumi Tembata and Jasmine Williams, plus volunteer Monica Bhatnagar on monologues and short scenes about how far women will go and and what they will endure for love, social mores from pick-up lines to "China Dolls," and the “Daddy’s Little Girl trap.”
The show is appropriate for ‘tweens and older.
