Chancellor Dan Klaich today sent his recommendation to the Nevada Board of Regents that Dr. Lesley Ann Di Mare be approved as the acting president of Nevada State College.

The Board will vote on the recommendation Friday, Aug. 27 during a special meeting to appoint the next leader of NSC as well as approve the 2011-2013 biennial budget request for the Nevada System of Higher Education.

Klaich will recommend that Di Mare serve a one year term as acting president, succeeding President Fred Maryanski, who served as president from 2005 until he passed away on July 2. A national search for a new president is anticipated to start in January 2011.

Di Mare has served as provost and vice president of academic affairs of Nevada State College since July 2007. Prior to her tenure at NSC, Di Mare served Arizona State University as associate vice provost for undergraduate initiatives and academic programs. She received her doctorate from Indiana University, her master’s degree from California State University, Hayward, and her bachelor’s degree from California State University-Chico.
