Pioneers finish third at Westmont Invitational

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Under sunny skies in Santa Barbara, the Pioneer men’s cross country team placed third at the Westmont Invitational on Sept. 25. CSUEB was led by top-15 finishes by Erik Rodriguez, Scott Pallesen and Francisco Pulido.

"Despite the hot weather, I felt the guys had a positive outing," CSUEB Head Coach Greg Ryan said. "Erik and Scott both had good races."

With five runners placing in the top 10, host Westmont College won the team competition with 25 points. Fresno Pacific was second with 32, East Bay took third with 71 points and Notre Dame de Namur (103) rounded out the four-team field.

Erik Rodriguez led all Pioneer runners with a ninth-place showing. Rodriguez covered the 8K course in 30:19.

Scott Pallesen (31:23) and Francisco Pulido (32:06) finished 14th and 15th, respectively.

John Erlandson clocked a time of 32:35.0 to come in 16th. Antonio Arredondo finished just behind Erlandson in 17th with a time of 33:07.0.
