Employee benefits annual open enrollment runs Sept. 13-Oct. 8
- September 1, 2010
Want to participate in a flex spending account, sign up for a child care reimbursement or add your spouse to your dental plan? Make these and other changes to your employee benefits during the annual open enrollment period from Sept. 13 through Oct. 8.
No action is required for employees who do not want to make changes to their benefits plans.
During open enrollment, employees may make changes including adding or removing dependents from benefits plans or enrolling or re-enrolling in flex spending accounts for health care or dependent care. Open enrollment also is the time to add eligible dependents under 26 to a health, dental or vision plan; participate in the FlexCash program for those who have medical coverage not provided through California State University; or opt out of the Tax Advantage Premium Plan that deducts employee contributions for medical plan premiums on a pre-tax basis.
Changes made during open enrollment become effective Jan.1.
The university has introduced eBenefits, an online enrollment system for making changes to or enrolling in benefit programs, that has eliminated the need to complete hard copies of forms for submission to human resources. Instead, update benefits from any computer with Internet access. Use of the system requires employees to complete an eBenefits authorization form.
Human resources has scheduled the following workshops offering information about open enrollment and health care reform: Health Plan Informational Workshop, noon to 2 p.m., Sept. 30 in the University Library Biella Room at Hayward; Flexible Spending Accounts Workshop, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Oct. 1. In the Valley Business and Technology Center room 216 in Hayward; Open Enrollment Session, 9 to 11:30 a.m., Oct. 5, Academic Services building room 120 in Concord.
Employees will be notified about upcoming eBenefits open lab dates through mass mail and on the human resources Web site. The eBenefits open labs will provide training in using the eBenefits system for employees interested in making changes to their benefits during open enrollment.
Visit the human resources open enrollment benefits Web site for more information and a link to the eBenefits authorization form. For answers to benefits questions, contact Karen Reynolds or Stefanie Broughton at (510) 885-4598.
