Cal State East Bay finishes 15th at Grand Canyon Invitational

GOODYEAR, Ariz. - The Cal State East Bay women's golf team placed 15th out of 18 teams at the Grand Canyon Women's Fall Invitational on Sept. 28. As a team, the Pioneers shot a three-round score of 665, 74 strokes behind team champions Western Washington and Western New Mexico.
Deanna Tyndall led the Pioneers with an 18-over-par 162 for the two rounds. Tyndall tied with two other golfers in 59th.
Christina Walker fired a season best round of six-over-par and finished the tournament with a 21-over 165. Walker finished in a three-way tie for 66th, while Andrea Castellanos shot a 22-over-par 166 to finish in 70th.
Katie Devine and Andrea Reilly rounded out the CSUEB field in 77th and 89th, respectively.
The Pioneers return to the links next week when they travel to Olympia, Wash., to play in the St. Martin's Invitational. The tournament is set to begin on Oct. 4.
