HAYWARD, Calif. - The Pioneer volleyball team (16-4, 11-4 CCAA) moved up to 22nd in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association Division II Poll released on Oct. 25. The ranking is the highest-ever in Division II for the Pioneer volleyball program.
Cal State East Bay avenged two earlier losses with a sweep of Cal State Monterey Bay and a come-from-behind five-set victory over San Francisco State last weekend. The Pioneers are the second-highest ranked CCAA team in the top 25, bested only by No. 8 Cal State San Bernardino.
The Pioneers have won five straight CCAA matches and stand following the win over the Otters last week. Cal State East Bay is in the midst of a five-match homestand and boasts an 8-1 record at Pioneer Gym during the 2010 campaign.
The Pioneers will host UC San Diego on Oct. 27, when the Tritons will look to avenge a 3-2 loss to East Bay on Sept. 15 in La Jolla. The Pioneers will close out the homestand against two teams that defeated them in the first meeting this season. East Bay plays host to Chico State on Oct. 29 and Cal State Stanislaus for Senior Night on Oct. 30.
