The average beginning salary of graduates of California State University, East Bay ranks among the highest when compared to the graduates of other California State University campuses, according to research provided by the Seattle-based compensation company Payscale.com. It was reported in the Nov. 14 edition of the San Jose Mercury News.

The research found that the average beginning salary of a CSUEB graduate is $48,800 per year, behind only Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (at $55,000) and San Jose State ($51,700). The average earnings of a Cal State East Bay graduate, when at mid-career status, averages $79,800 per year, also among the highest in that category among graduates of CSU campuses.

The research shows the value of an education offered by Cal State East Bay and the CSU system, and that earnings of Cal State graduates are superior to those with only a high school diploma. The earnings value of a CSU graduate is many times more than the approximate annual tuition of about $4,400, demonstrating a high return on investment.

The California State University was the first and only university system in the nation in 2008 to publish graduate salary data after a federal commission called on colleges to do a better job of measuring and publicizing their graduates' success after earning a degree.
