CSUEB prof says Giants' success will raise the stakes for Oakland A's

After the San Francisco Giants won their first World Series title in 56 years, Paul Staudohar, professor emeritus of business administration, was interviewed by the San Jose Mercury News about the impact of the win on the Bay Area’s other major league baseball team.

Qayoumi interviews famed London director at Berkeley Rep

Cal State East Bay President Mohammad “Mo” Qayoumi interviewed Indhu Rubasingham at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre Oct 25. Rubasingham is director of The Great Game: Afghanistan, a three part theatrical event exploring the culture and history of Afghanistan since Western involvement in 1842 to the present day, which had its West Coast debut at the Berkeley Rep Oct. 22 through Nov. 7.

CSUEB and Schwarzenegger meet in Moscow

During an October 2010 visit to Russia, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger met with Edvard Goyzman of the Institute of Business and Economics, Cal State East Bay's long-time partner in offering an MBA program to Moscow professionals.

Biology professor and jumbo squid make a splash at environmental film festival

Chris Kitting, professor of biology, served as a delegate to the 2010 Blue Ocean International Environmental Film Festival, a global film festival and conservation summit for underwater filmmakers and marine researchers. Humboldt Squid: An Invader in the Sea of Cortez, a film featuring Kitting and his undersea expedition with CSUEB student Mike Hawley, was a featured finalist at the festival.

American Book Award for Prof. Gutierrez

Stephen D. Gutierrez, professor of English and director of creative writing, was honored with an American Book Award from the Before Columbus Foundation for his collection of short stories, Live from Fresno y Los.
