See it live - CSUEB theater

SEE IT LIVE: Forget paying $15 for a 3-D movie, nowadays more teens are opting for the original three dimensions: A hometown produced play.
Don't get me wrong -- until a couple weekends ago I never would have believed that kids would trade makeshift sets and cheap-looking props for multimillion dollar special effects. Yet on a warm Saturday afternoon, the auditorium was packed at my high school's production of "The Test."
These small productions are becoming more popular, especially as the student prices are low, and movie ticket prices keep rising. A week ago, I attended the Cal State East Bay production of "Xtigone," a take on the ancient classic "Antigone" with some friends. For $15, three of us got to enjoy a fun evening of live entertainment. At the movie theater, that same amount would have only bought one ticket for "Tangled" in 3-D. So next time you're short on cash and want to catch a show, check around for a local theater production.
