Glasrud returns to CSUEB for lecture on 'African American Road to White House'
Bruce A. Glasrud returns to campus Feb. 23 to deliver thoughts on the quest of blacks for the White House.

Bruce A. Glasrud, a specialist in the history of blacks in Texas and the West, returns to Cal State East Bay Feb. 23 to deliver the annual Carter G. Woodson Lecture in Black History on "African Americans and the Road to the White House."
Glasrud is a professor emeritus at CSUEB, dean emeritus at Sul Ross State University and the 1992-93 CSUEB George and Miriam Phillips Outstanding Professor.
His presentation will be from noon to 1:15 p.m. in the Old University Union, room 311, 25800 Carlos Bee Blvd, Hayward. Admission is free and everyone is welcome. Sponsors are the Friends of History, the departments of history and ethnic studies and Associated Students Inc. Diversity Center. The series is named for an African-American historian, author, journalist and founder of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History.
The author of 16 books and approximately 60 articles, Glasrud will reference his most recent book, by the same name as his lecture, that he and Cary D. Wintz coedited.
The book explores the long history of African American candidates for president and vice president, examining the impact of each candidate on the American public, as well as the contribution made toward advancing racial aspirations in America.
Each chapter takes the story one step further in time, through original essays written by top experts, giving depth to these inspiring candidates.
