  • April 12, 2011

On February 25, Cal State East Bay marked the 30th anniversary of its presence in Contra Costa County with a reception and luncheon at the Concord Hilton. Prominent East Bay businessman and philanthropist Sil Garaventa, Jr. was honored at the event with the presentation of an honorary doctorate of human letters by CSUEB and the California State University system.

The anniversary celebration was covered by the Clayton Pioneer, the newspaper serving the city of Clayton, which is just a few minutes southeast of the Concord Campus. The following article by Pioneer reporter Jay Bedecarré captures the event.
