Women in Business: Rami Muth

  • April 19, 2011

Teacher, Principal, Superintendent, Mother, Daughter, Sister and Friend are just some of the many roles that define the life of Superintendent of Schools, Rami Muth. Rami has served as superintendent in Martinez since 2008; although she did not initially aspire to become an administrator. From a very early age she knew that she wanted to become a teacher. “Teaching is not only an inherently creative process it is a career that is deeply fulfilling. I always knew that the work I was doing was important and that I had a unique opportunity to positively impact the lives of the students I taught.” Muth was recognized as the Solano County Teacher of the Year and won numerous awards for teaching throughout her twenty years as a teacher in Benicia.

Rami was encouraged to become an administrator and was invited to participate in a program at Cal State East Bay. That invitation opened many new doors for her as she became a principal, coordinator for GATE, secondary literacy and Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment in the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District. “In my career, I have been very fortunate to have been supported by many individuals who saw my potential before I did. Since that time I have made it my personal mission to do the same for others. I always try to encourage others to reach for new opportunities and to see the limitless possibilities that exist.

In my life I have always been inspired by the words of Eleanor Roosevelt who said, ‘The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.’ It is my hope students will challenge themselves to strive for excellence and to express their talents and skills in a way that will positively impact our world.”
