A digest of top, need-to-know dates, deadlines and events for faculty, staff and students, "This Month at CSUEB" is a regular feature of The View e-News. Read on for updates and previews of what’s happening at Cal State East Bay in the coming month:

• Faculty and students will showcase the depth, breadth and creativity of their research through poster displays during the Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity Poster Exhibit from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. May 25 in the multi-purpose room of the new University Union on the Hayward campus. The campus community is invited and refreshments will be served.

• Mark your calendar for the 10th annual Soberfest BlockParty from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 11 on the lawn in front of the Pioneer Bookstore. Join in games, win prizes and sip mocktails at the event  sponsored by the following groups: Associated Students Inc., the Athletics Department, Community Policing Advisory Boards, Peer Advocates for Wellness, Pioneer Bookstore, Student Health and Counseling Services, Student Housing and Residence Life, Student Life and Leadership Programs, and University Police Department.

• Learn to navigate the Office of University at training sessions offered at 10 a.m. May 6 in the University Library Biella Room and at 9:30 a.m. May 9 in SC N120. Sessions will cover policies and procedures for requesting a facility for an event or for instructional needs. • Theatre and Dance presents "Seven Deadly Sins," a masterpiece of the musical stage that is parts symphony, opera and ballet at 8 p.m. May 6 and 7 and at 2 p.m. May 8 in the University Theatre. Tickets are $5 to $15. Make reservations at the Theatre and Dance or call (510) 885-3118.

• Fete Cal State East Bay's top student scholars at the 2011 Student Honors Convocation at 11 a.m. May 14 in the University Peristyle.

• Pick up tips on striking a balance between work and home life at a 10:30 a.m. May 13 workshop “Learning to Juggle Multiple Demands.” Through discussion and activities, participants will learn strategies for determining priorities and creating personal and professional balance. The workshop, offered through human resources’ Employee Assistance Program, will be held in VBT 134. • Expand your knowledge by attending the May 23 Leadership Today Workshop, “Ability,” organized by the ASI Diversity Center and Student Life and Leadership Programs. The session is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. in the new University Union multipurpose room.

• Members of the Department of Music, along with choirs from Bay Area high schools and colleges, will perform "Carmina Burana" at 8 p.m. May 21 at Nortre Dame de Namur University, Belmont, and at 4 p.m. May 22 at the Center for the Arts in Castro Valley. Kathleen Rountree, interim dean for the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences, will be one of two pianists performing. Tickets to the May 21 performance are $5 to $15 and available at .
