Theatre, Dance students present showcase of short plays, dance

Performance Fusion, the annual showcase of short plays and dance by advanced students in Cal State East Bay's Department of Theatre and Dance, will be performed Friday through Sunday, May 27-29, in the University Theatre on the university's Hayward Campus, 25800 Carlos Bee Blvd.

Subtitled, “Love, Sex, Theatre & Dance,” the dozen pieces will be presented at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday (May 27-28) and 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 29.

“The Voyage,” choreographed by Bradford Barnes, Jr., will feature students Dustin Stevens, Justin Sharlman and Carlos Lopez; “Daze Gone By,” choreographed by Dannia Ciolo, will feature Jennifer Stern, Alonzo Smith and Justin Sharlman; “Woman Where Art Thou?,” choreographed by Victoria Fadenipo, will feature Alejandra Aguilera, Ashley Blanchard, Juhandryn Dessames, Royia Stevenson and Anthony Johnson; and “Insecurities,” devised and performed by Keri Kudrov, and directed by Kunpeng “Kevin“ Wang. 

Additional segments to be performed include “Opening Night,” written and directed by Joe Loper, will feature Karen Fokes, Janelle Aguirre, Vince Gabrielson, Cheryle Honerlah, Jan Brown, Roger Robinson and Melanie Sutrathada; “Danny and the Deep Blue Sea,” by John Patrick Shanley, directed by Carlos Lopez, will feature Joe Loper and Melanie Sutrathada; “Bent But Not Broken,” choreographed by Justin Sharlman, will feature Dwana Timms, Bradford Barnes, Jr., and Dannia Ciolo; and “Peeping Punch,” by Jules Tasca, directed by Jan Brown, will feature Sami Jo Guida, Marie Ibarra, Roger Robinson, Zach Marshall and Evan Boomer; “Unevenly Yoked,” choreographed by Dwana Timms, will feature Justin Sharlman, Aaron Pratt, Krystal Bates, Anthony Johnson, Jennifer Stern, Ashley Blanchard, Tyra Woods and Bradford Barnes, Jr.; “Some Men,” by T. McNally, directed by Kunpeng “Kevin” Wang, will feature Nikhail Ahpo, Kyung Ji, Zach Marshall, Evan Boomer and Jenny Montes; “Jar of Hearts, choreographed by Janessa Wong, will feature Krystal Bates, Jennifer Stern, Estrella Ramirez, Ashley Blanchard and Joe Loper; and “Hip Hop Your TV Crew,” a dance video conceived and directed by Yifan “Caroline” Wu, will featured Anthony Johnson, Dustin Stevens and Jennifer Stern.
