SMALL COLLEGE NOTEBOOK: Amador Valley grad Bryce Miller named top male athlete at Cal State East Bay

Amador Valley High graduate Bryce Miller has been named Male Athlete of the Year at Cal State East Bay.

Miller had a 5-6 pitching record with an ERA of 3.01 with the Pioneers, who won five of six games to conclude the season with an 18-32 overall record.

He got the win in their season-ending 4-3 victory over Grand Canyon University in Phoenix to cap a three-game sweep.

Miller posted an excellent 2.60 ERA in the California Collegiate Athletic Conference. The 6-foot-1 right-hander transferred to Cal State East Bay from UNLV. Volleyball player Sukhjit Athwal (Milpitas) was named Cal State East Bay's Female Athlete of the Year. Athwal had 10 or more kills in 15 matches in the 2010 season.
