CSUEB grad is college football analyst for ESPN

Mike Bellotti joined ESPN in April 2010 as a studio and game analyst across multiple programs and ESPN platforms. Bellotti has worked various games on ESPN and ESPN2, and is a frequent guest on many ESPNU studio shows.
Bellotti was named the University of Oregon’s athletic director, overseeing the entire operation of the school’s athletics department, on July 1, 2009, following 14 seasons as head coach of the University’s football program.
Hired at Oregon in 1989 as an offensive coordinator under then-head coach Rich Brooks, Bellotti remained in that position through the 1994 season, and was promoted to head coach starting with the 1995 season. His record at Oregon stands at 116-55, and is the winningest football coach in Oregon’s history. During his tenure, he led Oregon to 12 postseason appearances and six bowl victories; a share of two Pacific-10 Conference titles, a school-record 11 wins and No. 2 national ranking in 2001; nine seasons with eight or more victories; and a Top 25 national finish in six of his last 10 years.
He began his coaching career at his alma mater University of California, Davis as an assistant coach under College Football Hall of Fame coach Jim Socher. He then coached at California State University, Hayward and Weber State, before accepting the head coaching position at Chico State from 1984-88.
Bellotti played tight end and wide receiver at UC-Davis. He started at tight end as a sophomore and junior, earning second-team all-Far Western Conference honors at wide receiver as a senior.
Bellotti graduated from California-Davis in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts in physical education, and completed his teaching credentials in 1974. In addition, he earned in 1982 his Master of Science degree in physical education at California State University, East Bay.
He served as the Chairman of the NCAA Football Rules Committee from 2007-09 and was a member of the American Football Coaches Association Board of Trustees from 2003-09. For the past five years, Bellotti has served as a National Vice President for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
