Library to feature author of Pio Pico biography

The Monrovia Public Library will be host author Carlos Manuel Salomon at 2p.m. Sept. 24 in the Library Community Room.

As part of Latino Heritage Month, Salomon will discuss his biography "Pio Pico: The Last Governor of Mexican California." The book is recognized as the first biography of Pico, the two-time governor of Alta California, who tried to save his territory from being annexed by the United States.

Salomon is an assistant professor of Ethnic Studies and director of the Latin American Studies Program at California State University, East Bay.

Book sales and signings will be available at the end of the program with net proceeds going toward scholarships for Monrovia High School seniors.
