A digest of top, need-to-know dates, deadlines and events for faculty, staff and students, "This Month at CSUEB" is a regular feature of The View e-News. Read on for updates and previews of what’s happening at Cal State East Bay in the coming month:

• Welcome back students for fall classes starting Sept. 21.

• The Division of Continuing and International Education will hold an open house from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at the Oakland Center, 1000 Broadway, Suite 109, in downtown Oakland. Faculty and representatives of some of DCIE’s approximately 70 degree and certificate programs will be on hand to share details and answer questions. • Lend a hand to the Move-In Program. Volunteers from CSUEB organizations, Athletics teams and the university community are encouraged to help freshmen, international students and others moving into Pioneer Heights Sept. 14, 16, 17 and 18. • Mark Oct. 4 on your calendar for human resources’ Annual Benefits Fair. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Visit the HR Web site for details.

• Get ready to perform. Auditions for the university dance ensemble and touring company will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 27 in PE 140. Auditions for "The Laramie Project" are slated from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 28 on the University Theatre stage. Auditions for "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change" will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 28 in Theatre 194. • Flu shots are available for $10 to students, staff and faculty members during summer quarter and continuing through mid November, as long as supplies last. Call Student Health and Counseling Services at (510) 885-3735 for hours and to schedule an immunization. Bring your Bay Card to your appointment.

• Faculty members, gear up for fall quarter Sept. 15 at , an annual professional development event to be held in the VBT. Interim President Leroy Morishita and Provost James Houpis will help kick-off the day's sessions on technology, new tools for teaching and learning, and effective networking with a variety of academic support services. A complimentary lunch and reception will be provided for participants who by Sept. 13.

• Student Health and Counseling Services (SHCS) operates on a limited schedule during the quarter break. Hours for SHCS and the pharmacy will be 10 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. through Sept. 20, with the exception of Sept. 19 when SHCS operates from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Regular hours will resume Sept. 21.
