Cal State East Bay guard Roshun Wynne was named the California Athletic Association (CCAA) men’s basketball Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 28 through Dec. 4,.
Wynne averaged 16.5 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals as the Pioneers opened CCAA play with a pair of come-from-behind victories over Sonoma State and Humboldt State, the nation's No. 6 ranked team (for NCAA Division II).
In the 89-85 win over Sonoma State, Wynne scored 24 points, including 15 in the second half, helping East Bay overcome a 13-point deficit.
The following night, Wynne came back to score nine points and pull down a team-high 11 rebounds while playing with a sprained ankle in the Pioneers 88-82 win over previously undefeated Humboldt State.
For the season, Wynne is averaging 11.8 points and 4 rebounds a game.
The Pioneers are off to a 2-0 start in the CCAA and 4-2 overall. The two victories in CCAA play equals Cal State East Bay’s entire conference win total from last year.
CSUEB will host Cal State Dominguez Hills for a 1 p.m. tipoff on Sunday, Dec. 18.
