CSUEB to host Vets event Feb. 9

Military veterans seeking to begin or resume their college education get the counsel they need and learn about resources available when Cal State East Bay hosts "Every Day is Veterans Day at the CSU" from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9 in the Multipurpose Room of the New University Union, on the university’s Hayward Campus, 25800 Carlos Bee Blvd.

The event is offered to veterans wishing to learn more about the California State University system and all those professionals who serve veterans in higher education and community service organizations. It is co-sponsored by CSUEB and the other nine CSU campuses serving Northern California.

Panel and workshop sessions specifically for veterans will cover job placement opportunities, financial aid, and higher education opportunities through the CSU. Veterans will be able to meet with representatives of the various CSU campuses as well as support organizations serving veterans. A continental breakfast will be provided from 9 to 10 a.m. and lunch will be served from noon to 12:30 p.m.

“We are reaching out to our heroes in the military who have risked their lives to keep this nation safe and secure,” said Amanda Segura, director of enrollment development for CSUEB. “As they return home from serving our country, we want to inform them of the college options available and the support services provided by the CSU.
