A digest of top, need-to-know dates, deadlines and events for faculty, staff and students, "This Month at CSUEB" is a regular feature of The View e-News. Read on for updates and previews of what’s happening at Cal State East Bay in the coming month:
· Hear Tupelo Hassman discuss her critic-lauded debut novel “girlchild” at 7 p.m. March 14 in the Biella Room of the University Library on the Hayward Campus as part of the English department’s Distinguished Writers Program. A book-signing will follow by the author who the New York Times described as “such a poised storyteller that her prose practically struts.”
· Learn to avoid exhaustion and job disinterest at Avoiding Burnout, a March 21 Employee Assistance Program. Register by March 16 for the one-hour program, to be held at 9:30 a.m. in VBT 134, by contacting Kristine Fagundes in human resources at kristine.fagundes@csueastbay.edu or (510) 885-2077.
· Find out how to write a personal statement, finance graduate studies and prepare for the Graduate Record Examination March 8 at Pathway to Graduate School. The event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. in the New University Union multipurpose room. Visit the for additional information and online registration details.
· Want help with your taxes? Student volunteers from the Department of Accounting will provide free income tax assistance to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays, March 10 and 17, April 7 and 14 in the Valley Business and Technology Center, room 221, on the Hayward campus. Filers must be California residents. Bring photo identification, last year’s federal and state tax returns, social security cards for yourself and dependents, W-2 and 1099 forms.
