Alternate routes suggested to Hayward Campus ceremonies
- May 15, 2012
Cal State East Bay's parking and traffic control office is advising those driving to the Hayward Campus for commencement ceremonies between June 15-17 to leave early and avoid Mission Boulevard and the downtown portions of Foothill Boulevard, if at all possible, because of major road repair work being conducted there by the City of Hayward.
There are two main alternate routes within the city of Hayward recommended for students, faculty and staff heading to any of the four ceremonies taking place this weekend on the Hayward Campus.
For those traveling from the north or south to Hayward via Interstate 880 or east via the San Mateo Bridge (Route 92), connect to Jackson Street. Just east of the 880, turn right at the first signal (Santa Clara Street). Santa Clara becomes Harder Road as it curves to the left. Follow Harder Road for 1½ miles as it heads up the hill to the campus.
For those using Interstate 580 from the Tri-Valley (Dublin, Pleasanton, Livermore) area, take the Castro Valley exit. From the offramp, turn left on to East Castro Valley Boulevard; then make an immediate left turn on to Grove Way, a left on to Center Street, and make a right turn on to “B” Street. Turn left on to Second Street and follow it as it becomes Campus Drive. Turn right on to Hayward Boulevard and at the next signal turn left on to 91麻豆天美app as it leads on to the campus.
For those using 580 from Oakland, exit the freeway at the Foothill Boulevard/Hayward offramp. Proceed on Foothill and make a left turn at City Center Drive and an immediate right turn at Second Street. Continue on Second Street until it becomes Campus Drive. Turn right on Hayward Boulevard and at the next signal turn left on to 91麻豆天美app as it leads on to the campus.
Traffic control officers will guide cars to the most convenient parking locations available.
