Alumni Association seeking applicants for board of directors

  • June 1, 2012

The Cal State East Bay Alumni Association is looking for new directors to join its board to help the university reach out to Pioneers past and present. The three or four current positions are open to CSUEB (CSUH) alumni, who will serve a two-year term beginning July 1, 2012.

"The Alumni Association board is a fun, spirited group of up to 13 alumni who are committed to improving the CSUEB experience for students and alumni," said CSUEB Director of Alumni Engagement Kate Shaheed.

Meetings are held every other month, in the evenings from 6 to 7:30 p.m, with dinner provided. The group includes alumni spanning a range of graduation years and majors, with professional experience in a variety of industries.

"Members will enjoy valuable networking and service opportunities, as well as plenty of laughs and reminiscing," Shaheed said.

The board meets five to seven times per year, and directors connect with each other in between meetings to complete projects. The anticipated time commitment is three to four hours per month. Ongoing priorities include organizing the annual Homecoming event, marketing Association activities and improving outreach to alumni. Additional priorities will be determined by the board during their July retreat.

Those interested in joining the board should complete and return an application by June 11.

Applications received by the deadline will be included on the ballot sent to all Alumni Association members. Applications received after the deadline will be considered for appointment after July 1 as positions become available.
