First-generation college students invited to Cal State East Bay campus Saturday

HAYWARD -- Students who aspire to college can learn a thing or two on Saturday about financial aid and scholarships, admissions, careers and other aspects of college life.

Cal State East Bay is hosting an education summit from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on its Hayward campus, 25800 Carlos Bee Blvd. It will include workshops, motivational speakers and a college resource fair. Local community colleges and other CSU campuses in Northern California will participate.

Middle and high school students and their families, school administrators, teachers, counselors and community leaders are encouraged to attend. Co-sponsors include the Alameda County Office of Education, Hayward Chamber of Commerce, Chabot College, Laney College, the Contra Costa County Office of Education, and the U.S. Department of Education.
