A digest of top, need-to-know dates, deadlines and events for faculty, staff and students, "This Month at CSUEB" is a regular feature of The View e-News. Read on for updates and previews of what’s happening at Cal State East Bay in the coming month:
• Attend an information session on the Paralegal Studies Certificate Program at CSUEB and meet the program director, learn about program requirements and course offerings, as well as network with other professionals. Sessions will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 7 in the library, room 149, on the Concord Campus; from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 21 and 10 to 11:30 a.m. Feb. 28 at the Oakland Center.
• View the work of bachelor of fine art degree candidates on show through Feb. 16 in the in the University Art Gallery on the Hayward Campus. The gallery is on the first floor of the Art and Education Building. Hours: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and Saturday; and 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Admission is free.
• A record turnout of some 1,700 students and family members is expected Feb. 23 at the annual Education Summit at Cal State East Bay. PEMSA invites you to volunteer at the Saturday event that helps students from neighboring communities recognize that college can be for them. Scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., the 2013 summit theme is "It Takes a Community: Education Summit for First Generation African American, Latino, Asian American, Native American, and Pacific Islander Students and their Families." • Engage in an interactive learning experience Feb. 19 through 21 as the Diversity Center and ASI present Tunnel of Oppression, in which participants learn about forms of oppression including racism, disability myths and misconceptions, domestic violence, heterosexism and body issues. At the completion of the experience, participants join in a Tunnel of Hope conversation that allows them to reflect, share their thoughts and consider opportunities for addressing issues of oppression that most concern them.
