This is news coverage of CSU Chancellor Timothy White's visit to Hayward's Glad Tidings Church of God in Christ for Super Sunday services on March 10.
Here is written text of the report by the news anchor and on-camera comments by participants at the church:
"The Cal State University system is using an innovative approach to recruit students. Today, university officials visited 100 churches with members who are predominantly African American as part of their Super Sunday program. California State University's Chancellor Timothy White went to two services at a Hayward church to talk to potential students and their families. In addition to providing information about the university system, he gave them information abut the college requirements and finacial aid as well. One potential student says if he got in, he would be the first in his family to attend college. 'I feel really more empowered because the chancellor and the president did not have to come to our church to see they care about our community.' This is the eighth year of the Super Sunday outreaech program."
