Pose questions, get answers at Warren Hall project open forums

Big changes are coming to the Hayward Campus as the university prepares to demolish Warren Hall and construct a replacement building. For faculty, staff and students who have questions about the projects, a series of open forums are planned in March.
In January, the California State University board of trustees authorized $50 million to replace Warren Hall, rated the least safe building in an earthquake systemwide by the CSU Seismic Review Board. While the university prepares to bid goodbye to the longtime landmark, plans are underway to add a new building on the east side of the campus, said Donna Placzek-Savage, director of environmental health and safety.
“This is one of the biggest projects on our campus ever,” she said. "We want to minimize the impact, so we’re providing people with knowledge and information and the opportunity to get their questions answered. Plus, people are curious.”
Three sessions are scheduled at which Placzek-Savage and Keat Saw, CSUEB director for planning, design and construction, will present a slide show about the Warren Hall demolition and building replacement project. Following the presentation, Placzek-Savage and Saw will take questions from those in attendance.
The open forums are scheduled at the following times and places: 10 to 11 a.m. Friday (March 8) in Meiklejohn Hall, room 2002; 2 to 3 p.m. March 12, in Meiklejohn Hall, room 2032; and noon to 1 p.m. March 13 in South Science, room 143.
