- May 29, 2013
Alameda City Manager John Russo has named Alameda Police Department Captain Paul Rolleri Interim Chief of Police effective June 1st, the day that the current chief retires.
In March, Chief Michael Noonan announced his retirement at the beginning of June. He replaced former chief Walter Tibbet in the middle of 2011.
Paul Rolleri has been with the Alameda Police Department since 1992 and primarily patrolled the west-end of Alameda when he was an officer. He rose through the ranks, working as a Field Training Officer and in the Investigations Division. He was promoted to sergeant in 2002, to lieutenant in 2009 and to captain in 2011.
Captain Rolleri is 49 years old and was born and raised in Alameda. He attended Otis School, St. Philip Neri Elementary, and graduated from Alameda High School in 1981. He has two children, a 19 year-old son and 17 year-old daughter.
Rolleri attended Cal State East Bay (then known as Cal State Hayward), where he earned a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice Administration in 1985.
