Arts events in May include Dance Ensembles and Glasow Fellowship concerts

Two special arts programs will be presented on the Hayward Campus of California State University, East Bay during May.
The Cal State East Bay Dance Ensembles will perform new works written by Nina Haft and Eric Kupers, associate professors in the university's Theatre and Dance Department. Concerts, taking place in the Studio Theatre on the Hayward Campus, are Fridays and Saturdays, May 3, 4, 10 and 11, and Sunday, May 12. The May 3-11 concerts begin at 8 p.m., while the Sunday performance is a 2 p.m. matinee.

The annual Glenn Glasow Fellowship Concert, honoring the late Cal State East Bay professor of composition who died in 2002, will be held Thursday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free to the concert, which will be held in the Recital Hall (room 1055) of the Music Building.
REDSHIFT new music ensemble will perform compositions recently created by former students and colleagues of Glasow, who taught at CSUEB for 34 years.
The compositions include "Earthwise," by Robert Lyons, a recipient of the Glasow graduate fellowship; and works by Michael Stubblefield, recipient of the Undergraduate Commission Award; Michael Zapruder; Austin Graham; Nicholas Vasallo; and professor emeritus Frank La Rocca.
REDSHIFT is made up of Jeff Anderle on clarinet; Andie Springer on violin; Michelle Kwon on cello; and Kate Campbell playing the piano.
The Glenn Glasow Graduate Fellowship is supported by the Glenn Glasow and Yoshiko Kakudo Endowment of the CSUEB Music Department.
