CSUEB's Thomas, Holdridge earn All-CCAA recognition for softball performances

The Cal State East Bay women's softball team landed two players on the 2013 All-California Collegiate Athletic Association teams, announced May 1. Taryn Thomas earned second team all-conference honors, while Sara Holdridge received honorable mention recognition.
Thomas, a senior who hit .306 in CCAA action, ranked No. 13 in the conference with 38 hits and complied a .980 fielding percentage while playing second base. She had a 10-game hitting streak during conference play and turned in three-hit games against CCAA postseason qualifiers Humboldt State and UC San Diego.
Holdridge, also a senior, was second on the Pioneers with a .333 conference batting average. She ranked second in the conference in doubles (11), 16th in hits (36), and tied for 16th with 20 RBI. Holdridge, who plays first base and catcher, hit safely in 27 out of 36 games and had eight multi-hit games. Holdridge's most productive CCAA game was against Chico State when she went 3-for-4 with three RBI and three doubles, tying a school record.
