Stockton Police Dept. adds two officers
- June 20, 2013
STOCKTON - Officers Anthony Castro and Diljeet Sekhon were sworn in Monday as the newest members of the Stockton Police Department, bringing the number of sworn officers to 331.
That's the same number the department had in October when it swore in nine officers, kicking off a spate of new hires. Rather than seeing the numbers go up, the agency has been grappling with a revolving door as more senior officers retire, join other agencies or leave for undisclosed reasons.
On their first day on the job, Castro and Sekhon reported to Capt. Scott Meadors in the Field Operations Division.
Castro graduated in November 2011 from American River College Police Academy in Sacramento. He attended Sierra College, earning an associate of arts degree in administration of justice. Prior to joining the department, he worked as a chef at La Provence in Roseville.
Sekhon graduated Dec. 14 from the South Bay Regional Public Safety Training Consortium. He earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from California State University, East Bay, and previously worked at Metropolitan Golf Links in Oakland.
