California State University, East Bay celebrated the graduation of more than 3,000 baccalaureate as well as master’s, credential and other post-graduate students during three separate ceremonies June 14-15.
Mild weather and scattered red and white blossoms on the Pioneer Stadium hillside made for an ideal backdrop to ceremonies at the Hayward Campus, while at Boatwright Sports Complex at the Concord Campus bagpipers leading the processional set a rousing tone from the outset of the event.
Bearing strands of fragrant floral leis, beach umbrellas in tropical hues and congratulatory banners, families and supporters of graduates at both campuses kept up an ongoing chorus of cheers and applause. Students, on the other hand, showed off their pride –– and creative talents –– through personalized mortarboards touting their majors and academic honors.
The joyous displays served as active reminders of what ASI President Jerry Chang described in a speech to his fellow master’s degree recipients the as “the difference” faculty and staff have made in each graduating student.
Photographs from each ceremony can be found on the Cal State East Bay Web site.
